A Turbo Charged Lemon & Cucumber Water Recipe

cucumber, lemon, grated ginger & mint leaves – ingredients needed for water recipe

*You will need a pitcher for this recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 1/2 cups filtered water
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 medium cucumber, sliced thin
  • 1 medium lemon, sliced thin
  • 12 mint leaves

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher and let flavors blend overnight. Remove the lemon slices, ginger and mint leaves before pouring. Drink the entire pitcher by the end of each day.

Lemons

Lemons are a loaded with Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, which aids the body in weight loss. Antioxidants are known to remove toxins (such as fat cells) from the body, which is why lemon water is such a good aid in weight loss. Additionally, Vitamin C found in lemons, is known to boost the immune system.

Cucumbers

Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins your body needs every day. Just 1 cucumber contains: an abundance of B Vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6), Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.

Fresh Mint

Mint is loaded with strong antioxidants found within the leaves and stems, as well as vitamin A, calcium, folate, potassium, and phosphorus…making it a helpful aid at preventing disease and illness. David Grotto, author of 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life writes: “Fresh mint was found to have very strong scavenging activities [in the body]. Mint is high in salicylic acid and it is thought to play a role in the prevention of colorectal cancer and atherosclerosis. In a study, mint given to mice with lung cancer reduced tumors significantly. The effects were attributed to the antioxidative and radical scavenging properties of mint. Research also indicates that some essential oils may reduce food borne pathogens. In one study, the natural essential oils found in mint prevented e.coli bacteria from growing.” Powerful stuff for such tiny, flavorful leaves 🙂

Ginger is packed with anti-inflammatory compounds, called gingerols, which experts believe to:
