Crossing Off Some Personal Bucket List Items

Fun in Peru

Last spring, my husband and I spent our 3 year wedding anniversary marking off a major bucket list item – 2 weeks in Peru, surfing Lima and exploring the amazing Machu Picchu!

We Moved

In the middle summer, we found and bought our first house together in Neptune Beach! We have enjoyed every minute in it!

Fun in Canada

At the end of summer, we took a quick trip up to Canada, visiting friends in Toronto and the Muskoka Lakes area. Really beautiful cities…we thoroughly enjoyed both the big city of Toronto and serene Muskoka Lakes area.

New Year’s Resolutions (I prefer to call them Goals) Advice

At the start of each new year, everyone feels the urge to make positive changes, most of those focused on their health, fitness level and wellbeing. Just remember – there is no better time to start than today.

2 Points of Advice for those looking to get in better shape for 2015

1. Don’t go extreme. Launching into both extreme workouts or extreme dieting is almost always guaranteed to be a short-lived strategy. Instead, focus on making smaller, more incremental changes toward better health each day.

2. Don’t fall victim to solely focusing on the scale. More often than not, I hear people say that they need to lose 10lbs, 20lbs or more…but, what they actually mean, is that they want to tone up and lose excess fat. Dropping pounds does not necessarily mean you will be looking better and reaching the goals you desire. If you’re training properly and eating right, you should be building some muscle, which is more dense (ie. weighs more) than fat. So, your weight could end up staying the same, but your body can see beautiful changes.

3. Don’t focus on the past, only look forward. Today is your day. If you feel like you dropped the ball at some point in the past or wasted time, just forget it. Don’t let the past or your past actions hold you back. Look forward and concentrate on making better choices.

My Wish

My ultimate wish for you all is to make the best, healthiest choices, every day. Recognize that the choices you make will affect everything you do, how you feel, and the way your body and mind perform. Good health is your one ticket to vitality in life. By making the best choices every chance you get (eating healthier, quality daily exercise, good sleep) you will start the process of a complete healthy lifestyle change.

Make it Happen!

So, that’s my wrap of 2014. I’m looking forward to the excitement that 2015 will bring: meeting new people, trying new things, exploring new places, riding new waves, and, of course, blogging 🙂

I hope to write and create more here each month throughout the year, and I look forward to sharing my thoughts, tips and advice with you on health, fitness and nutrition.

Now…Go. Make something happen!!
